NEWELL—The school held an open house on Thursday evening, just a few days before the school year began on Monday, Aug. 19. Exciting changes are in store for the Newell School District.

This year brings all new administration, including superintendent and high school principal Dr. Pandi Pittman, elementary principal Paul Clark, and business manager Amy Williams. Additionally, five new teachers became part of Newell School District: Hannah Hendrick, P.E./Health and Athletics Director; Macy Shupick, Elementary Special Education; Kimberly Bachman, Music & Fine Arts; Cheyenne Parke, Ag. Science; and Jesse Engel, 3rd Grade teacher.

Pandi Pittman stated that her two main goals for the school year are to have a positive school environment and culture, and to protect the learning environment.

“I’m happy with the turnout,” she said.

During the open house, Haggerty’s Music from Rapid City had instruments available for fifth graders to demo along with information on rentals. The W.I.T. Coalition had a table with free school supplies for students to take, donated by the Salvation Army. The Booster Club also set up an information booth.
