The evening was a perfect example of the best of summer, exceptional weather, great music, and the opportunity to socialize outdoors. A good family crowd of approximately 50 people and some pets (on leashes) attended the free concert sponsored by the Belle Fourche Arts Council (BFAC) last Wednesday evening in Belle Fourche.
The audience enjoyed the popular Badger Horse band from Hulett, Wyoming. The recently renovated Herrmann Park bandshell provided an attractive stage with excellent outdoor acoustics. A free-will donation for the BFAC was taken during the performance.
Sometimes, the best way to describe such an experience is in a poem: The following is Jean Helmer’s description of the evening:
One may, if it pleases one,
walk one’s pet dog in Herrmann Park
in multiple laps while
listening to steady country swing
from Badger Horse Band.
One may, if it pleases one,
dance with joyful freedom
Tap hands and feet
To the band and the steady beat
To and in the most perfect time of all.
One may, if it pleases one,
On this pretty, pristine Wednesday eve
Enjoy a banana split ice cream treat without regret
While nature offers her applause through
Fluttering leaves of cottonwood and elm.
As always, concert goers are encouraged to bring a blanket or seating for the event or bring lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the concerts are generally moved to the Rec Center at 1111 National Street in Belle.
