Celebrating Cousins

Newell News News

NEWELL-Every three to five years, the family of Carl and Olive Anderson make a special trip to Newell. The cousins enjoy gathering and celebrating their Newell heritage. Among the cousins are many great and great-great grandchildren of Otto Donatus Anderson, the US founder of the Anderson family.

Otto Donatus Anderson arrived in America in 1883 from Sweden. He married Emilie in 1888 and to that marriage Carl Donatus Anderson was born in 1893.

Carl married Olive Clare Mitchell in 1921. Together they had seven children, Mary, Katherine, Dale, Esther, Kenneth, twins Judy and Jane.

Carl and Olive and their children lived on “the farm” just south of Newell on the east side of the Highway 79 just before Horse Creek bridge.

The seven children bore 27 first cousins. These cousins gather to have a Cousins’ Reunion every three to five years.
