BELLE FOURCHE—The 21st of May found Chris Dvorak of Dvorak Convenience Stores purchasing his seventh gas station. This third generation business man acquired Mid-America Travel Plaza from Nash Enterprises, Inc. His grandparents, Bob and June, opened their first gas station back in 1982 in Black Hawk, SD, and with that, BJ’s Country Stores was born.
Today Dvorak Convenience Stores does business as BJ’s Country Store.
Dvorak said he purchased this business because he was “looking to expand” his business portfolio and the Belle Fourche community was a good place to do that. He has no big changes planned for the truck stop, aside from currently fixing pot holes in the drive way.
Typically Dvorak Convenience Stores change the name of their new purchases to BJ’s Country Store, followed by the city location of the store. However, since the travel plaza is already an established brand, there is no plan to change the name of the location, other than adding BJ’s to the front of it, making its legal name BJ’s Mid-America Travel Plaza.
