NEWELL—The community was on the hunt for bargains all around town at Newell’s city-wide yard sale on Saturday, June 1.
Patti Karas organized the city yard sale this year. Karas said that Theresa Pittman of VIP Insurance also helped her set up the NVN Center’s booth and operate the computer. This year’s fundraising efforts will go towards a new roof at the NVN Senior Citizen Center, a project that still needs around $14,000 to complete. Karas said that the community “always shows good support” and that donators gave over $200.
LeeAnn Mauch, Lynn Mauch, Steve Gatzke, and Kathy Gatzke are yearly yard sale shopkeepers. This year, they saw “quite a few” people stop by.
Laurie and Lisa Parker said that they were able to sell many items and would not have much left to box up once the day was over.
Other sales throughout town included bargain books at the library and baked goods at the church
