NEWELL—On Thursday, May 2nd, the Newell School District celebrated the achievements of its student athletes at the annual Athletic Banquet. This year’s ceremony held special significance, as the 2011 girls’ basketball team was honored with induction into the Newell Hall of Fame.

The banquet took place in the middle school gym, where students, coaches, friends, and families gathered for a potluck dinner before the ceremony began. Football coach Tyrel Bonnet stated, “You’re the type of individuals that I want my sons to look up to.”

Individual awards, including Most Valuable and Most Improved, were presented to athletes in football, cross-country, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, track, and golf.
