Belle Fourche Area Community Theater announces their 2024 Season! BFACT held their Annual Meeting at Venue 519 on January 20th. Board Members and Executive Director, Derek Olson, announced the following shows: The big summer production will be the log-time favorite, It is time to start marking your new 2024 calendar for upcoming theater events! Murder on the Orient Express. The spring show is Break a Leg: A Night of One Acts. The later half of the year will bring the live radio play, Sherlock Holmes and the West End Horror, Getting Our Acts Together: Northern Hills One-Acts, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, the Musical. If you are ready to join them on stage, be sure to attend AUDITIONS for the BFACT Night of One Acts on February 6th & 7th in the BF Rec Center Theater, 6:30-8:30 PM.
The BFACT Board celebrated record attendances in 2023 and look forward to growing this year. Their youth theater workshops and high school scholarship will continue this year, and they welcome all new members to be involved and bring ideas to the organization. The public is invited to see plays all day! The Belle Fourche High School will host the Regional One Act Play Competition on Wednesday, January 24th. at the BF Rec Center Theater. This full day event brings together high school theater programs from schools to perform their plays for the opportunity to compete at the State One Act Play Competition in early February. We will have the results ASAP! Good luck, Belle Fourche young thespians!
At the end of January, it is time for Dark Secrets, a 1903 Readers’ Theater Production at the Tri-State Museum. Catch one or both shows on January 26th & 27th. Call the Tri-State Museum for more information: 723-1200.
CALLING for STAGE PLAY WRITERS & ACTORS! Be sure to check out the BFACT Writers’ Workshop for stage plays on January 30th, 31st, and February 1st at 7 PM. Join published author Derek Olson, whose scripts have been performed in Belle Fourche, Lead, and as far away as England for the Workshop on Jan. 30th and 31st at 7pm and public performance on Feb. 1st on the Belle Fourche Rec Center Auditorium Stage. The workshops will focus storytelling for the stage, basic mechanics of stage plays, correct formatting, and more. If you have a script you have already started, bring the first ten pages with you. You can get specific critiques on it that you can take away and work on after the workshop concludes. This is a very unique opportunity that can be hard to come by for new authors. The Belle Fourche Arts Council has announced its 2nd Annual “Rural Life Expressions.” Photography Contest. The contest has three categories: Landscape, People, and Animals for Under 18 and Adult. Amateur photographers can mail or drop off submissions (Mounted 8×10 photo – no frames) at the Tri-State Museum and Visitor Center, 415 5th Avenue, Belle Fourche between January 1st and Feb 3rd. The entries for the contest will be on display the week before the reception at the museum. There will also be a “People’s Choice” award chosen by those who visit and view the entries. Final judging and awards ceremony will be held the evening of Feb 10th.
