Bearlodge Writers Book Signing at Library Sept. 16th

Belle Fourche News

Local authors Jean Helmer, Dawn Newland, and Kathy Bjornestad will visit the Belle Fourche Public Library on Saturday, Sept. 16, from noon – 1:30 p.m. for a reading and book signing of a second collection of work from the Bearlodge Writers, Spirit of the Bear Lodge.

Spirit of the Bear Lodge is a celebration of poetry, fiction, essay, and memoir with wide-ranging themes. The works in this volume encompass the best of the Bearlodge Writers, a critique group based in Sundance, WY, and founded in 1979. Meeting monthly for more than forty years, members of the Bearlodge Writers have been widely published, spreading their work to readers everywhere. Bearlodge Writers was first envisioned as a place where writers could gather to share, create, and encourage each other.

Its members stretch from the western shadow of the Bighorns to Maine. Aaron Lindsau of Sastrugi Press calls the anthology “unexpectedly touching,” and writer and educator Dawn Wink, PhD, proclaims, “The honesty, humanity, compassion, and strength of the writers took my breath away again and again.”
