NEWELL— Friday evening, August 25, marked the beginning of the Newell High School Football season. Before the game, West River Co-Op hosted a tailgate party. Then, fans filled the grandstands and observed Parents’ Night before the game commenced at 7 pm. The Irrigators received the opening kickoff.
After an exciting game with great efforts by both teams, the Irrigators ultimately lost to the Longhorns. The final score was 50-8, Faith.
The Newell High School junior class held a fundraising event during halftime, where people could pay $1 per kick to try to make a field goal. Successful kickers got a free pop for their efforts.
The Irrigators will face Harding County at home on Friday, September 15.
